Space is limited, so every move matters. A merge that looks helpful now can leave the board harder to manage a few turns later. Keep enough open cells to keep combining tiles and work toward the 2048 tile.
Because the board changes after every move, each run develops differently. You can chase a higher score, reach higher-value tiles, or practice a steadier merge pattern.
Create the 2048 tile before the board is completely blocked.
Preserve useful spaces so later moves stay available. Chasing the largest merge every turn is less important than keeping a workable layout.
Move tiles with the directional controls. On a keyboard, use the arrow keys for up, down, left, or right. On touch devices, swipe in the matching direction when the build supports touch.
When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one tile with double the value. Two 2s become a 4; two 4s become an 8.
After a move, a new tile can appear. As the grid fills, useful moves matter more. Keep merging matching tiles and leave open positions so you do not run out of options.
